Getting stung is a very common occurrence, it's just part of what I do. I'm not a fan of getting stung, and it does sting a bit, but the pain is not enough for me to stop doing it because I just love to wrangle bees. That being said, 4 or 5 hits per removal is not unusual, but sometimes I get zero. I leave some of the bees on the comb to help keep the brood, the larva, warm and alive. By doing this, by the time I get back to the abbey and frame the comb up, my brood is still viable. Thanks for watching. Until the next one, God's peace. Mr. Ed

Generally the bees that are left behind, and there will always be some that are left because they were not at the hive when it was being removed, they were out collecting pollen or nectar, will eventually find another hive to live with. Thanks for watching. God's peace Melanie. Mr. Ed

I'm delighted to hear you have discovered my channel and are seriously considering becoming a beekeeper. I always say the world needs as many beekeepers as it can get. I'm hooked. I binge-watch your videos. My dad kept bees when I was little. When I was a toddler in the early 1950's on our 100 acre farm in SW Ohio, my mom thought I was with my dad and my dad assumed I was with my mom. I was off looking at the bee hives between the garden and the back barnyard. I knocked a hive over and was stung by over 100 bees. We were COUNTRY people and the nearest hospital was over an hour away. I was told that hospital doctors said that I wasn't dead on arrival so I wasn't likely to die from the stings. They also said I would never have arthritis because of the bee venom - a common belief back then. (Actually, I don't have it at age 70 so...maybe they were right?) Poor bees died because of me. And I still love bees.

I am very familiar with this type of treatment and I know of at least 3 people who are presently using it with very good results. In the past I normally do, but now, if I go into the hive to check on the progress after the removal, and the comb is attached to the sides of the frame, I go ahead and help the bees out and remove the band. Many people, like myself, want honey that is unfiltered. Each time a filter is used in the refining process it removes active particles in the honey and those particles add to the benefits of raw honey. So for me, running the crushed honey through a rough filter to remove the majority of the wax is good enough. Thanks for watching. God's peace Stephanie. Mr. Ed

Vacuuming bees from only the entrance will only get rid of the bees near it. Once the vacuuming begins the rest of the bees move away from the suction. The only way to get all the bees is to expose the comb allowing complete access to the entire hive. A big AMEN Jesus for sure! I too am a big fan of the horizontal hive, and I also think it is a very good option for older beekeepers like myself who don't like bending down of lifting heavy supers. That is quite understandable, but I have been working with bees for almost 45 years, and I am extremely comfortable around them. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 14 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. @@JeffHorchoff I have watched many of you bee wrangling, honey extracting, wax collecting videos. I find them fascinating, especially some of the places you find the bees. I just don't believe I could do it without the bee .
